Amit May Cohen is a Los Angeles-based composer and multi-instrumentalist with a flair for bold, genre-blending scores that don’t play it safe. From the high-energy, hybrid-orchestral world of Disney Channel’s Zombies franchise and its animated spin-off, to the stripped-back intimacy of documentaries like ESPN’s 37 Words (directed by Nichole Newnham and Dawn Porter) and Netflix’s The Dreamlife of Georgie Stone (directed by Maya Newell), her music is as versatile as it is distinctive. She’s contributed to major film and TV projects as an additional composer and orchestrator, all while carving out a signature sound that blends orchestral writing with unexpected textures such as detuned guitars, found sounds, and custom-built instruments.

Her work moves easily between comedy, documentary, and narrative film, including the indie feature The Country Club, starring John Higgins. Along the way, she’s contributed to a wide range of major film and television projects including Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & ShawValley GirlS.W.A.T.The SinnerCurious George: Cape AhoyUpload, and the Australian Academy Award–nominated documentary In My Blood It Runs - bringing both craft and a distinct musical perspective to each.

Originally from Israel, Amit is drawn to building sound worlds that feel tactile, expressive, and a little unexpected. She often incorporates elements like bicycle chains, mouth percussion, detuned guitars, and other found sounds, blending them with contemporary scoring techniques. A graduate of Berklee College of Music and alum of the Sundance Music and Sound Design Lab at Skywalker Ranch, she brings both precision and personality to her work, with a voice that’s sharp, playful, and unapologetically her own.
